But, what is the best way to do it? The Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Akustikforschung Dresden develops prototypical mufflers and silencers for testing.<\/p>\n<p><!--contentpartdivider--><\/p>\n<p>To achieve a legally required or appropriate noise reduction of sound emitting devices and machines various noise-damping systems are applied. This includes intake and exhaust systems, ventilation and air conditioning systems as well as ducts with flow. In each case, the mufflers and silencers are to be individually adjusted to the specific spectrum of the noise source together with the present service conditions (type of flowing medium, temperature, volume flow, pressure). One solution for that provides the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.akustikforschung.de\/en\/produkte\/software\/schalldampfer-software-aed-8001-acousticalc\/\">muffler software<\/a> AcoustiCalc<sup>\u00ae\u00a0Silencer<\/sup> of the Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Akustikforschung Dresden mbH.<\/p>\n<h4>Complete systems of silencers and mufflers<\/h4>\n<p>Numerous variations of applicable muffler elements, such as absorption mufflers, reflection mufflers, resonance mufflers, catalytic elements, duct elements as well as specific installations are provided by the software. All elements are parametrized with respect to geometry, material properties and service conditions. By simple concatenation of selected elements, a complete system of silencers and mufflers emerges from the noise source to the outlet which acoustic effectiveness can be calculated easily and fast by means of latest analytic models. Therby, mufflers and silencers can be optimized in no time at all.<\/p>\n<p>To consider different noise-damping materials when calculating the acoustic effectiveness, material parameters like the airflow resistance and the prosity are required. For that purpose, the Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Akustikforschung Dresden mbH applies and sells test setups for material testing which allow to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.akustikforschung.de\/en\/know-how\/prufverfahren-nach-norm\/\">measure material parameters<\/a> according to standard.<\/p>\n<h4>Test under near-service conditions<\/h4>\n<p>To optimize and develop complex prototypical mufflers, besides numerical simulations, the Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Akustikforschung Dresden mbH focuses on the measurement of silencers under near-service conditions. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.akustikforschung.de\/en\/produkte\/schalldampfer-prufstand-aed-1400-acoustitube-hightemp\/\">test setup for mufflers<\/a> AcoustiTube<sup>\u00ae\u00a0HighTemp<\/sup> especially serves the measurement of exhaust silencers up to 600 \u00b0C.
