After stopping the excitation, at discrete frequencies (natural frequencies) there are free vibrations (natural vibrations) of the system that show different modes.<\/p>\n<p>By using modal analysis, the occurring vibrational response can be investigated.<\/p>\n<p><!--contentpartdivider--><\/p>\n<h4>Principle of modal analysis<\/h4>\n<p>Thereby, a force is applied to one point of the structure to be investigated and at another point the response signal is detected. Hence, the transfer function is determined.<\/p>\n<p>By measurement of several transfer functions at lots of points of the structure the vibrational modes can be determined.
