Development of an absorption layer for concrete-based noise barriers made from 100% recycled concrete – RecAb
Due to the increasingly stringent demands for CO2 savings, the concrete industry has been striving for many years to return recycled building materials to the material cycle and thus significantly reduce the amount of waste and all the associated savings.
In this context, the project goal of a current research project is to reprocess the concrete waste in the precast plant into aggregates and return it to production and to develop an absorption concrete for noise barriers with the highest acoustic properties.
The technology development for grain processing and fractionation is intended to result in reproducible material development based on different grain compositions and in conjunction with acoustic measurement methods during production. The production of large-format demonstrators and the acoustic evaluation using the in-situ measurement method are the ultimate goal of the research project.
The research project is co-financed by the European Union and the Free State of Saxony.
